credit card application and bank account?

credit card application
Dak B asked:

alright, here’s the facts… im a 19 year old male with a stable job that brings in $300+/wk. im not independent, so i have almost $0 bills… i filled out an app. for capitol one to try and get my credit started but it was denied since i do not have a savings or checking account… if i go open one now then fill out another app., will this throw up a red flag to them and think im lying or do i need to have one open for so long? it didnt ask for an account number or anything to verify that i had one, just a simple yes or no

Go ahead and open the account. It won’t set off a red flag when applying for a credit card. Its not like it’ll be any worse than before. Just wait a couple of days and then apply again.

    It will be fine.

You should open a checking anyway, definetly good to have.
But you can try other cc companies. Capital one is tricky, sometimes they give to anyone and everyone, other times they nit pick.
But yeah open a checking account, sit on it a few months, then re-apply with capital one or elsewhere. But don’t try for too many cc’s, that’ll mess with your credit score.

If you want a simple yes or no then you don’t want the facts. So, good luck to you in your brashness to get credit. When you are old , or shall I say mature enoug, you will understand. No the answer you were looking for, i KNOW.

Any creditor should be wondering how you intend to pay the bill if you don’t have a credit card. They may also wonder if you have been blacklisted and can’t get one. Open a checking account.

you must not be applying for the right one if you do not have much credit history there are only a few credit card companies that will give you a card, check out and go under poor or no credit, here you will have a few choices, use one of these cards to just build credit and once you have used one of these cards for about 6-9 months apply for a better one
