I am a student and would like to start building my credit. The only problem is, I keep getting denied, even for student cards. Are there any cards out there that I can get?

too many inquiries on your credit report is just as bad
as having bad credit
so give it a rest, try for a gas card and a department
store card in a couple of months.
you can go to your bank and apply for a small short term loan and pay it off as plan and not early…if you pay it off early then the creditor doesnt make the money and he wont give you the points. if you take out a 500-1000 loan over a year or so you can build up your credit score.
several companies have secured credit cards. I got one after my second bankruptcy. It takes a while but it builds your creditscore and helps you get othe non secured cards. I got mine thru Providian which is now WAMU-not sure if they do it now. Good luck.
There are certain credit cards ment to build credit. They work by you “depositing” money on the card’s balance. You then make purchases almost like a “reverse credit card”. The company then in turn reports your “good standing” to the credit companies every 1 to 3 months. Some of these cards do charge a yearly fee. But since you are not paying interest this is how they recover their money for sending the info to the credit companies. Some are even free. These cards are called secured credit cards. Here is a site I found for you. I hope it helps!!!
i suggest that you get online or go to your bank and get a secured credit card, put 2-300$ on it and use it to buy little things, gas, food, entertainment and pay it off completely at the end of every month. in 90 days, apply for a gas card, a small company- diamond shamrock, conoco, phillips 66 and see if you get that card. remember everytime you pay your balance off complete your credit card jumps, try this secured card and stop applying for credit cards- it is putting marks against your credit report
This may sound a bit crazy but ask your parents to add your name to one of their credit card accounts. This way, when your parents use the card, they help build your credit up, and you get a credit card to use.
a prepaid card scores over credit cards especially if the owner has a not so perfect credit history.
The rejection is non existent in case of prepaid credit cards, there are no credit checks, no employment verification, and approval is guaranteed.
With a bit of dilligent shopping and comparision of various prepaid credit card offers, it is not difficult to find a prepaid card with no annual fees, no late payment fees, no repayments, and no penalties whatsoever. So, the ownership costs of a prepaid card can be negligible.
With prepaid cards it is very easy to promote financial discipline. Since you can only spend what you have, there is no overspending, and hence no debts.
Some prepaid cards do report their use to major credit bureaus and hence are a good instrument to rebuild credit history.
Prepaid cards have wide acceptability, and in some cases they are even more readily accepted than credit cards. Get more details about prepaid credit cards at:
