Go to your local credit union and make a deposit. Apply for a secured credit card in an amount = to your deposit. You will be able to use and make payments on the card like a normal card. Your funds will be on hold as collateral against the card. If necessary, you can pay the card off with the funds. It takes about 10 business days to get the plastic, so be aware this wait could intefere with your time-frame and plan accordingly.

You would probably qualify for a secured credit card. (Try Orchard Bank, their card has a Mastercard logo).

you cant :( except for the ones that want to charge you outrageous fees-like first premier. I use my atm card as a credit card all the time like to reserve hotels etc. or you could try the secured card route mentioned in the other answers

I recommend that you work on getting a secured card. Make sure that the card reports to credit bureaus so you get a positive credit score! Secured cards work exactly like credit cards! In many cases some credit card companies will give credit cards with low limits to people with poor credit. Check out, you can compare credit cards and get the one that fits you the best! Good luck

It is kind of difficult to get your first credit card. Especially now with so much economic uncertainty. Most likely your application will be decline by every bank. Banks even won’t bother to send you a letter, explaining why you’ve been rejected. However you can apply for prepaid credit card. It is almost guaranteed, that you’ll be accepted.
