    The tax people cannot be bothered to keep older records that 7 years, so if you can hold out without being caught for this time you are home!

    The negative reports are simply deleted from your credit report. Your score does not improve with the deletion of these items but once they are gone you get the opportunity to rebuild your credit.

    You can repair your credit after a year or two of paying on time but if you are talking about bankruptcy, it takes seven years. After seven years, request a copy of your credit report to make sure that the negative information is removed. Although it takes seven years before you can apply for credit after bankruptcy, some information remains on your file longer than that.
