bad credit
ally asked:

Recently my boyfriend and i decided to get married. We had already been working on his credit because it was way cheaper to fix his than it was to fix mine. Now that his is in good standing, if mine is not fixed before we get married does that mean that we both will have bad credit again? Just wanted to know how much of an impact on his credit, mine will g=have. We live in Nevada, if that makes any difference. Thank you.

  1. it only makes a difference if you apply for credit together.

  2. Don’t let him buy a house before you get married under his name only.
This is what rich people do to protect themselves upon any future divorce.
If in 20 years he finds himself a ho, he can leave you, and since that house is under his name only (pre-marriage) it belongs to him.
Any assets you have before marriage can not be touched by divorce.
A prenup prevents future assets (after marriage) from being touched, like income and earnings from investments.

  3. There are lots of myths about people marriage and credit scores. Credit scores don’t merge cause they go off of one persons social security number unless you both had the same ssn then you will be fine. I recently read a book that helped us tremendously increase our credit scores now we both have perfect credit.

  4. When you and your fiance get married, you both are viewed as One. All finances, assets and debt accumulated in the marriage “Partnership” can and most likely will effect both parties. Now that his credit is in order, you all need to focus on improving your credit as well. Don’t just sweep it under the rug. It won’t be fair to yourself, him or your marriage. Remember: A mass amount of Divorces stem from financial problems and distress. Don’t be another statistic! Start you new life out with a fresh clean beginning.
