BradPratt asked:

For example, are they less likely to give you a card if you don’t work, or list homemaker, or what not? Even if other members of your household or significant other is bringing in the money?

does where you live matter?

Do they only consider your credit score as being the single most important factor?

Also why are credit card applications getting more extensive? Now you have to list the total amount of money in all of your checking accounts, savings accounts, 401K, etc etc, other investments…whereas before you just had to fill in a simple little application and you were good.

I just always wondered what made a person more likely or less likely to be approved of a card.

I went bankrupt chapter 7 in early 2005, so as of right now my chances for getting anything are pretty much nil,but I have luckilly been approved of quite a few cards in 2007 & 2008, so I’ve been establishing credit history all that time…so you’d think that by now I’d be approved more easily, but I’m not. I apply once in a blue moon, and I still get denied.

The only bad thing I can think of is my bankruptcy.

http://1mortgagecalculator.info

Chad P asked:

I realize credit cards are the devil, and I’m trying to pay all of them off. However, I was late by 1 or 2 days since the company didn’t credit my payments until they felt like it. As a result, I am now at the default rate of 30.37% APR. I can’t afford to make a payment of 140 and have 145 go to interest each month. I talked to my banker or try to get some help & he told me to transfer the balance to another card. Discover is not currently offering any balance transfers, unless you apply for a new card. So, I recently filled out 2 online credit card application, one with US Bank & one on Discover.com. Both clearly state that I will receive a decision within 60 seconds, but I am still waiting. I filled out the US Bank application 4 days ago. I filled out the Discover application last night, since I hadn’t heard from US Bank. Discover also has a button to check the status of an application, but apparently it takes 24 hours or more before you can do that. Why do they state they will give you an instant decision, yet they don’t? I want to know if anybody has ever actually gotten an instant decision on a credit card.

http://1mortgagecalculator.info

Now, is this normal? Do someone call after applying for a credit card online? Have anyone received a call like this before?
