Lillian asked:
I heard that American Express and other credit card companies will actually reiumburse you if you recently bought something with that credit card and then it is stolen… does anyone know which companies do thise- Visa & Mastercard? and any info about it you may have..
something i rented from a rental place was stolen but it was new and i am thinking that maybe if they used a credit card to buy it it can be reimbursed?
no. more do it. purchase assurance.

Amex is the only I’m aware of. BTW, that is totally not how AMEX works! When you sign the contact you enter into an insurance agreement with them. Thereafter, they will offer insurance on all purchases with the card for a limited amount of coverage. You’re SOL and if you tried to retroactively file a claim for something that’s already been stolen (before you paid with your card or presented it) I’m fairly certain you’d be committing fraud. Amex collects insurance premiums via interest rates it charges to it’s clients. If everybody had something that was stolen and simply went out and signed up/charged it to Amex, they’d be broke by now.
EDIT:
I’m not aware of any other card that does this. Amex prides themselves on the unorthodox products they offer their customers. Amex was created as a travelers card. One that you could use all over the world with little worry of fraud, injury, financial liability. Amex even has special travel agents and concierge services. No other cards offer these services. If you have proof please post it.
