linzed asked:
I have a credit card with a relatively low interest rate (13.9%APR). It’s a suntrust visa credit card, and i think it’s designed for students. I just noticed that my credit card expires at the end of the year, though i’ll still be in school for another year or so. What’s going to happen? Will my account be closed when my credit card expires? Will my interest rate go up?

If you have kept current on your account, the institution will send you another card with a new expiration date about 21 to 45 days in advance of your old card expiring. They would only close your account if you are very deliquent. Same with the interest rate. That should not be affected by your card expiring, unless you are getting deliquent in your payments.
Odds are very strong your card will renew otherwise and you should be good to go!
Have a nice day.
They’ll send you a new card with a new expiration date about 2 weeks before your old one expires. If they don’t, call them and ask. All the credit cards I’ve ever seen want to keep working with you forever.
Normally they should contact you for the renewal process. If they are going to make amendments in the original terms, they should advise you prior. This is how normally it should be done. Check out your terms and conditions regarding your present credit card issuer.
If you have paid your credit card bill regularly when it is due, the credit card company will automatically send you a new card in the mail. This new card cannot be activated or used until you call the credit card company from your home phone and do so.
On the other hand if the company has had problems in the past getting money from you, when it was due, there will lbe a problem with renewing your card.
You will have to look at your credit card agreement whether it will go up or not, but they will send you another card 2 or 3 months before your current on expires.
You will just need to renew it. The credit card company when the expiry date approaches may send you application for renewal or may renew automatically and send you a new card with new expiry date. You may call the customer care centre of the company to get exact and full details.
If you’ve kept the account in good standing, it stays open. you’ll get a new card with a new expiration date.
